MA Show 2014

I was at uni yesterday and while there I visited this years MA Show. The work that was on display is in my opinion very detailed, well presented and well structured. I could tell pretty much straight away what the project was. It is hard to imagine that this will be me in a years time. Scary and exciting at the same time.

I was fortunate enough to know the people behind the work and it been a pleasure working alongside them this past year. Seeing them progress has helped me to gain an insight into the path ahead for me.

My favourite piece this year was The Mic by Carla Slack. I like the idea of bringing the community together.

Who needs walls…?

Walls are a standard part of any property, seeing that they enclose or divide separate areas of land, but the Swedish Free School Organization Vittra felt that walls had no place in a school house. The architect’s main goal on the project was to create, “a school where the physical space is the school’s most important tool in their everyday and pedagogical development.”

Inside to Outside

Walter Gropius of the Bauhaus believed in bringing the inside out and visa versa. I recently read a book by Anthony Sully about the interior designers theory and process. In this book he expressed how “the inside should be expressed on the outside”

This can simply be done by using organic materials and living plants
